- Networks across all industries require increased synchronization accuracy and protection against satellite navigation system vulnerabilities
- ADVA network synchronization transmits accurate synchronous data thanks to optimized Precision Time Protocol PTP transport channels
- The integrated solution reduces the time-consuming requirements for central network elements and saves operating costs
Unlike existing precision time distribution mechanisms, the new solution uses an optimized Optical Timing Channel to ensure accurate synchronization from the core of the network to the end units. It provides this by combining the enhanced Primary Reference Time Clock ePRTC and the very accurate Boundary Clock. The extension from the PRTC standard to the ePRTC standard allows the accuracy of the time base to be maintained for up to 14 days (eg in the event of a GNSS failure) with a deviation of up to 30 ns. This method provides higher levels of PRTC accuracy, but also more robust anti-competitive solutions. In addition, OTC allows OTC service providers to reduce the number of basic PRTC hours and GNSS equipment, which simplifies network management and reduces costs.
You will learn together with Kevin in an illustrative and brief video on how to get to the current most accurate networks and what to improve in them 😉
